manor care home choir

singing for residents

Taking place on Tuesday mornings, residents and family members are invited to sing together in a choir led by Sally.

Repetoire is decided by asking what the participants want to sing and Sally’s experience working with choirs with older people. Songs came from a diverse range of genres including folk, jazz, classical, pop, nursery rhymes - eg. Love me tender, My bonnie lies over the ocean, Auld Lang Syne, Take me home country roads, Let it be, Donald Whaurs yer troosers. We on average have around 20-30 participants each week and sessions include warming up, physical engagement, brain-teasers, games, and singing through repertoire.
